The Fast of Ramadan begins in the ninth month of the Muslim calendar. "It was the month of Ramadan in which the Qur'an was bestowed from on high as a guidance unto humankind and a clear proof of that guidance, and as the standard to discern truth from falsehood."
( The Qur'an 2:185 )
The day after Ramadan ends, Muslims celebrate a holiday called Eid-el-Fitr, a three-day "Feast of Fast Breaking." This is a time of gift exchanges, large meal consumption and enjoyment of the company of family and friends enjoyed. |
